The Phuket Aquarium is located in Cape Panwa, at the extreme south-east part of Phuket Island. Opened in 1983 by the Phuket Marine Biological Centre, it seeks to educate and entertain the many visitors who come here every year. As you would expect, there are hundreds of different types of fish at Phuket aquarium, both salt water sea-dwelling fish and fresh water fish. One of the highlights of the aquarium is their tunnel display, where you are surrounded on all sides by exotic sea creatures. Sting rays, sharks and giant groupers are just some of the many exotic sea fish that you will experience in the tunnel tank. It takes a while to see the whole aquarium, and adults and children alike should find it a fascinating visit.
