Phuket Sea Shell Museum

Address: 12/2 Moo 2 Viset Road Rawai 83000 Thailand
Open Hours: 8a-7p M-Su
Phone: +66 76 38 1266

The Phuket Sea Shell Museum is based near Rawai, and contains a unique collection of valuable sea shells. These include the biggest golden pearl in the world, and a huge shell that is over 250 kilograms. The shells are kept in an air-conditioned underground vault to ensure that they are perfectly preserved. While some children may not be enthralled by the static exhibits, the intellectually curious will be fascinated by the displays on offer. The collection began in Phuket, which is where the first shells were gathered from, but as the museum became known around the world, many different countries donated shells for them to exhibit.
