Siray Island, also known as Ko Siray, is connected to Phuket by a bridge, and is a few kilometers east of Phuket Town. It is most famous for its population of sea gypsies, and has a large village known locally as Chao Laes. Siray Island is home to a Buddhist monastery on a hill top, featuring a large Buddha image, and the panorama from here is breathtaking. The watercourse separating the island from Phuket is known as the Thaiean Canal. Plenty of tours are available here, although Ko Sirayk is not ideal for swimming due to the mud beaches surrounding the island
