Wat Chalong

Address: Vichit Songkram Road Chalong 83130 Thailand
Open Hours: 24 hrs

Wat Chalong is renowned for being the largest Buddhist temple in Phuket, and it is a beautiful and awe-inspiring place. Many monks live here, and you will see them going about their daily rituals as you investigate the beautiful gardens surrounding the temples. Like most Buddhist temples in Phuket, you are required to take your footwear off at the door – if it is a warm day, walking along the upper balconies of the temple can be quite painful! Make sure you wear respectful clothing if you decide to go, with no shorts or skirts above the knee. There are lots of shops and stalls surrounding the temple, but the prices are reasonable. Rather surprisingly, there is an ATM situated within the temple grounds for those who wish to make a donation. Inside the temple itself are many beautiful images of Buddha, and there is a very tranquil feel about the place despite the large number of visitors, mostly Thai.
