Wat Phra Nang Sang temple is possibly the oldest temple in Phuket, with over 200 years of history surrounding it. It was built to commemorate the battle between the citizens of Phuket and the Burmese invaders, which was won by Phuket with the help of the now-legendary “Two Heroines”, Thao Thep Kassatri and Thao Sri Sunthon. Statues of the two heroines can be found at the temple, along with three Buddha images made out of tin, a material that was considered very precious 200 years ago during the boom of Phuket’s tin mining industry. You can find Wat Phra Nang Sang temple near the centre of Thalang.
