Bang Tao & Laguna
Bang Tao Beach is a gorgeous 6km stretch of sand that plays host to the superb Laguna Phuket Resort complex, made up of no less than 6 hotels with magnificent facilities. The beach itself consists of beautiful fine sand, almost white in color, and the turquoise sea completes the picture of paradise here at Bang Tao.
It is impossible to write about Bang Tao without mentioning the Laguna Phuket Resort – the 6 hotels are grouped together at the centre of the beach, most of which are 5 star establishments. Particularly noteworthy are the Laguna Beach resort, the Dusit Thani Phuket resort, the Banyan Tree resort, and the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, all of which are 5 star hotels boasting the ultimate in luxury in their splendid surroundings. Their bars and restaurants are all open to the general public, and there is a variety of gourmet cuisine waiting for you at the various eateries in Laguna Phuket.
In addition to Laguna Phuket, there is a range of hotels at Bang Tao Beach, mostly upscale but with a few inexpensive exceptions. There is also the famous Pavilions 5 star resort, offering ideal accommodation for romantic getaways, and the Bundarika 5 star Villas and Suites. There are some high-quality shopping opportunities within Laguna Phuket’s Canal Village, offering up fine silks and suitable beach attire, and a wide range of other shops and services that ensure that you never need to stray too far from Laguna Phuket’s confines.
Bang Tao village itself has kept its own unique culture and charm, and you are sure to get a warm welcome from the local Thais. It has its own marketplaces and food stalls, and if you want to sightsee you can visit the local temples, which include the popular Wat Cherngtalay. Although you can find numerous excellent drinking and dining options within Laguna Phuket, there are plenty more just outside the Laguna resort – there is plenty to do at night in this area, and many gourmet restaurants and cheaper establishments compete to offer you their fine cuisine.
Despite having the Laguna resort in the middle section of the beach, the north and south ends of the beach are actually very quiet – most people at the resorts don’t stray too far away from the hotels, so even on this prestigious beach you can still guarantee yourself some quality time alone if you are prepared to walk along the beach for a few minutes. Bang Tao beach offers you a picture-postcard version of a tropical holiday, with the azure seas, waving palms and fine sand that will make you want to stay long after your holiday has finished.
