East Coast and Islands

Phang Nga paradise
Sometimes when people consider booking a holiday to Phuket, they overlook the opportunity of staying on the East Coast and the nearby islands. It is true that the majority of Phuket’s best beaches are on the West and South coast, but there are some gems on the East coast too – for example, Phang Nga Bay and its islands are renowned for their natural beauty, boasting some magnificent views. There are many opportunities for boat and canoe trips around the different parts of paradise dotted about Phang Na.

Ao Por, Po Bay, Racha Island, Yao Noi, and Coconut Island are just some of the many beautiful destinations on the East Coast and Islands of Phuket. Since the East coast is considered less mainstream than the rest of Phuket, there are some real bargains to be found here, with some great and inexpensive hotels. There are also some 5 star resorts that highlight the splendid isolation to be found on the East coast and on the islands. Six Senses offer their own private island to guests, as do The Coconut Village, and both offer the ultimate in luxury accommodation. Six Senses has an additional 5-star Phuket resort, the Six Senses Sanctuary, and the Chandara Resort and Spa is a world-class hotel.

You will discover that the East coast has a different vibe to the rest of Phuket. The vast majority of people here are local working Thais, who are very welcoming towards visitors. The East coast also offer some of the best boating opportunities in Thailand, since the waters of the East coast are extremely calm. Canoeing trips are very popular here, and the still clear waters offer a splendid chance to go snorkeling and admire Phuket’s myriad of underwater wildlife. The lack of development makes for some of the best views available in Phuket; craggy islands covered in greenery jut out of the divine turquoise waters, and the local flora and fauna are breathtaking.
