Rawai Beach
The golden sands of Rawai beach are loved by visitors and locals alike – it is a beautiful place to bathe in the sun. You can sip a refreshing cocktail from one of the beach bars, while watching the local fishermen go about their business in their elegant long-tail boats. The boating activities do mean that Rawai beach is not ideal for swimming. If you have come to Phuket to experience some Thai culture, Rawai is a great choice – many Thais live and work here, and there are plenty of authentic Thai shopping opportunities here for holidaymakers. Rawai beach boasts a fine selection of gourmet seafood restaurants, taking their deliciously-fresh catches from the nearby fisherman village.
The hotels in Rawai provide great access to the nearby Promthep Cape, which is home to some of the world’s most spectacular sunsets. Even the Thai locals, who have grown accustomed to the natural beauty surrounding them, gather in their hundreds every day to witness this magical event. There is nothing quite like the view here, and you can see a large part of the island from Promthep Cape’s high vantage point.
If you enjoy travelling by boat, Rawai beach offers a wide variety of long-tail boat trips. You can hire a boat for the family, or just you and a loved one, and cruise around the beautiful islands of Koh Lone, Coral Island, and Racha Island, perhaps stopping off at a beautiful unspoiled beach where you can pick bananas and coconuts from the naturally growing trees – you may well have the whole beach to yourself!
